Specialty Closures

Liners & Septa

Saint-Gobain offers a range of high-purity septa liners designed to meet the stringent requirements of the medical, pharmaceutical, and environmental markets. Engineered for a secure seal, our septa liners ensure the protection and integrity of critical samples. Made from silicone and various barrier films, our septa liners ensure chemical inertness and ultra-purity. We manufacture septa liners in various diameters, colors, thicknesses, and durometers to meet specific customer needs. Additionally, pre-slit designs are available for easy needle insertion and vacuum pressure release, making them versatile for a wide range of applications, including chromatography, medical packaging and diagnostics.

Liners & Septa Product Details

Features & Benefits

  • Engineered to meet rigorous application demands and performance specifications
  • Insertion options include Microlink™ bonded, press-fit, and glue-fit
    • Microlink bonded cap & septa liner options eliminate the need for adhesive and prevents liner fall-out
  • Chemically resistant films available
  • Breathable septa liners allow for off-gassing to prevent bursting or failures
  • PTFE alternatives available

Typical Applications

  • Diagnostics & Microbiology: Ultrapure, low bleed materials designed to meet stringent standards for precision and reliability. Our fully automated mechanical bonding of the septa liner to the closure eliminates contamination risk, ensuring sample integrity.
  • Chromatography: Autosampler closure, septa liner and vial assemblies enable a precise, consistent fit every time. PTFE and silicone liners allow for reliable needle penetration and self-sealing of the septa liner.
  • Environmental & Water Testing: Chemical resistant closures and liners with a PTFE face and low durometer ensure minimal extractables for accurate analysis. Designed to maintain sample integrity and prevent contamination.
  • Medical & Pharmaceutical: Ultra-pure materials, including platinum-cured silicone, are designed for biocompatibility and can withstand ethylene oxide (EtO) and autoclave sterilization.  Assembly and packaging take place in a controlled white room environment to minimize contamination risks.
  • Chemical Packaging: High-purity, chemically resistant materials, including PTFE-faced liners and low-durometer seals, ensure compatibility with aggressive substances. Designed to prevent contamination and maintain product integrity, our liners and closures can withstand harsh storage and transportation conditions, meeting the stringent requirements of chemical packaging applications.
