The seal for a proposed testing kit couldn’t handle the chemical reagent or mechanical stresses required for doing its job: diagnosing infectious disease.  

For the people at Minnesota Rubber & Plastics, who came up with a new seal geometry and material formulation, the project to produce a diagnostic kit is just one way COVID-19 has made its presence known.
