Increasing concerns in Europe and North America regarding health hazards
and disposal of PVC with DEHP plasticizers has led to the development
of alternative tubing products. The new TYGON® Medical
Plasticizer-Free (MPF) Series Tubing, available from Saint-Gobain
Performance Plastics, are flexible, medical grade, clear, non-PVC
polymer formulations designed to replace PVC tubing in medical applications.
TYGON® MPF Series Tubing was designed to be used
in place of PVC devices where DEHP plasticizers and leachables are
not desired. These products are considered environmentally friendly
and can be disposed of without harmful effects to the environment.
All TYGON® MPF Tubing is non-pyrogenic and non-toxic
in Systemic toxicity, intracutaneous reactivity, cytotoxicity, hemocompatibility
and intramuscular implant tests. Tubing is tested and validated
to ISO 10993 and USP Class VI Criteria.
TYGON® MPF Tubing is available in several formulations
for specific medical device applications: TYGON®
MPF-100 product has excellent chemical resistance; TYGON®
MPF-300 bonds exceptionally well to plastic connectors; TYGON®
MPF-500 is designed for use in peristaltic pumps. TYGON®
MPF Tubing is ideally suited for catheters, surgical drains, fluid
and oxygen administration applications. These products are EtO and
Gamma radiation sterilizable and can be produced in customer sizes
and configurations to meet your specific needs.
