Prototype to Production Tooling In-HouseSuccess of a finished product depends on many factors during development, production and assembly. The most critical elements include part design, raw material choice and tooling for manufacture.

At Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics we have in-house tool-making capability at two of our North American facilities that can provide prototype and production tooling for extrusion and silicone molding processes. Our tooling centers are staffed by experienced journeymen tool makers and are equipped with Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) EDM, mill and lathe machines with state-of-the-art design support software.

Prototype through Production

New medical device product launches always have timelines with expected launch dates. We try and eliminate hidden time sinks in your schedule by providing our own tooling to you as part of our service. Since we develop and build tooling in-house, we can build, test and modify tools in a shorter period of time and under the strictest of confidentiality. We are not dependent on outside vendors with their own priorities and queues and thus can provide cost-effective tooling while remaining in control of the project. This translates into a reduced cycle time and no excuses.

For prototyping, we use a fast-track approach that puts quality parts in the customer's hands for quick evaluation and testing. Whether the first concept is correct or the ninth version is, we will provide prototype parts and/or modifications in a very competitive timeframe. Once the design is finalized, we can smoothly and efficiently transition the part into production utilizing all the knowledge we have gained during the prototype phase.

Our Application and Tooling Engineers stand ready to assist you in transitioning your design concepts to successful medical devices.
